I actually had a family reach out last summer, determined to make the beach work. I gently suggested we wait. When spring came around, we met in Huntington Beach and the entire session felt effortless.

If you want to shoot during peak bloom on the beach, most families should book at least 6–8 weeks in advance. I start booking families in February. The window for these sessions can be short. Once those dates are gone, they’re gone.

The families who plan ahead get the best of everything. Ideal locations, perfect timing, and a much more relaxed experience overall. No packed beach, easier parking and no competing with dozens of other sessions happening at once.
