If you’re searching “Newport Beach newborn photographer” while nursing with one hand and scrolling with the other…hi. I see you. You just brought home the tiniest, most overwhelming, most in-love-than-you-thought-possible person, and somewhere in the fog of feedings and unwashed hair, a little voice is telling you: I don’t want to forget this. That voice is right. This guide covers everything you need to know before booking: timing, what to expect, what to wear, and what this whole experience actually feels like. There’s a full FAQ at the bottom if you’re running on fumes and need the fast version as well!
There’s a version of newborn photography that’s all props and posing. Think baskets, bonnets, backdrops that look like a nursery catalog. That’s not what I do. If there is a nursery backdrop it’s because it is an actual nursery in someone’s Orange County home.
What I create is an image that is more heirloom than trendy. I want to focus in on that warm, natural light. Genuine skin-to-skin. The curl of a fist, the impossible length of eyelashes, the way your husband’s hands look enormous around a five-pound person. This is what you are going to want to remember.

I read a lot of inquiry forms in that shell-shocked first-weeks haze, and the words change but the need underneath doesn’t. Being a new mom is something that is foreign and really scary. I am here to make sure that you are getting the best photos of your family during this special time. When you are searching for an Orange County newborn photographer it’s usually this:
“Someone who won’t stress me out.” You are exhausted, still healing, definitely not interested in a two-hour ordeal that involves you sweating and stressing.
“Safe hands with my newborn.” This is the big one. You want someone who has actually handled a five-day-old before and who knows how to soothe baby (and you!) and also help guide you in a way that is calm.
“A photographer who gets this stage of motherhood.” Not just someone with a nice camera and a beanbag posing setup. Someone who understands that this exact version of your baby and your family.
“Flexibility, because newborns don’t care about calendars.” You need someone who can work around a feeding schedule, a blowout, a meltdown, and still get the shot.
If that list just described your last 48 hours a little too accurately, good. You’re exactly who I built this for.

Newborn sessions are best captured in the first 5 to 14 days of life. That window is when babies are still curling into those sleepy, folded-up newborn poses, still deeply snoozy, and easiest to settle into soft, safe positions. It’s a narrow window, and it closes faster than anyone warns you. If you want to read a blog post that shares more about when to book head over here.
Here’s the part nobody tells you until it’s almost too late: you need to book this session while you’re still pregnant. I say ideally by your third trimester. Babies don’t arrive on schedule, and I only take a limited number of newborn clients each month so I can hold space for your exact due date window without overbooking myself into rushing anyone.
I offer both, and the right choice depends on you.
In-home sessions are my most requested for newborns, and for good reason. You don’t have to pack a diaper bag or drive anywhere. If you are in Newport Beach or the surrounding area then I come to you. I also bring my client closet so that you have something gorgeous and comfy to wear. Using your home is a really special space.
Studio-style sessions give us more control over light and backdrop for that classic, soft, editorial newborn look. You come to me and we have a session that is still calm and relaxing. I still bring the client closet as well. We capture all the sweet moments. For a studio session I have a 90 min time session and as always I use Spark Studios in Huntington Beach, CA.
I will always build in time for feeding, changing and relaxing. These sessions are never rushed.

For newborn sessions, less really is more. Soft neutrals, creams, warm whites, and muted earth tones let your baby be the entire focus . Skip busy patterns and stiff fabrics; you want to look soft and comfortable, not styled within an inch of your life. I will offer a client closet to you as well so we can pick what you think is best for you.
If you have older siblings joining, coordinate loosely in that same soft palette rather than matching exactly. It reads as intentional, not costumed. If you’re staring at your closet in a state of postpartum despair over what to wear, I have a client closet with elevated, comfortable pieces so “I have nothing to wear” is never the reason you skip this. I will also guide you through with your partner and other children to ensure a seamless look.
A newborn session with me isn’t a rigid, prop-heavy production. It’s an experience, start to finish:
You’ll get a full prep guide once you book. This includes what to expect, how to prepare baby, and what I’ll bring. We start slow. I let your baby settle in on their own timeline, because a newborn who feels safe and warm gives you far better images than one who’s forced into a pose they’re fighting. There will be pauses for feeding. I capture the posed, sleepy, curled-up portraits and the real in-between moments: your hand cradling their head, your toddler kissing their new sibling’s forehead, and sweet moments between parents and baby.
Afterward, you get a gallery full of images that work everywhere. If you are looking for wall art for the nursery, an album for the coffee table, or the photo you’ll send to every relative who keeps asking “do you have any new pictures yet?” I make sure that you have options for all of it.

I’m a mom to a toddler, and I went through postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety myself. I know exactly how fragile, overwhelming, and disorienting those first weeks can feel. I know how much it means to have someone gentle, patient, and unhurried in your space during that time. My whole approach is built around making you feel completely comfortable, starting with the very first email you send me. No pressure to have your house clean, no pressure to “get it together”. Just a calm, warm presence while we capture a version of your baby you will never get back.
When should I book my newborn session? Ideally during your third trimester, before baby arrives. I hold a flexible date range around your due date and only take a limited number of newborn clients each month to protect that flexibility.
What’s the best age for newborn photos? The first 5 to 14 days of life, while babies are still in that sleepy, curled-up newborn stage. If your baby is older than that, don’t worry! We can absolutely still create beautiful images, just with a slightly different approach.
In-home or studio — which is better? Whichever feels right for you. In-home is more relaxed and personal; studio gives a more classic, editorial look. I’m happy to talk through which fits your family during our first conversation.
How long does a newborn session take? Usually 2 hours. That sounds long, but it accounts for feeding, soothing, changing, and simply letting your baby settle at their own pace.
What if my baby cries or won’t settle? Completely normal, and fully expected. I know how to soothe a fussy newborn, and we build in plenty of time for feeding and comfort breaks. Some of the sweetest images come right after a good cry, once everyone resets.
Can siblings and pets be part of the session? If you are planning a studio session then pets do need to stay home. However if we are in your home: Yes, always. Sibling and family moments are some of my favorite parts of a newborn session, and I know how to keep things low-pressure even with a toddler who has other plans that day.
Do you help with what to wear? Always. You’ll get full wardrobe guidance, and I have a client closet with soft, elevated pieces if you want options without the shopping stress.
What if my baby arrives early or late? No problem! We adjust. Newborn sessions are booked with flexibility built in from the start, precisely because babies never read the calendar. You will always have priority when it comes to me and my calendar.
What’s included in the investment? Session fee, professional editing, an online gallery, and print/product options are all part of the experience. I’ll walk you through full pricing once you reach out. There are no surprises when it comes to this.
If you’ve read this far you already know how fast this goes and how badly you don’t want to look back and wish you’d captured it. Let’s get your due date window on the calendar before it’s too late to plan ahead.

MOTHERHOOD CHANGED ME IN WATS THAT I HAD NEVER EXPECTED. AFTER WALKING THROUGH PPD, I LEARNED HOW TO TENDER AND UNSEEN A MOTHER'S HEART CAN FEEL. I UNDERSTAND HOW MEANINGFUL IT IS TO BE MET WITH LOVE AND CARE,
AS A MOTHER, I LEAD WITH GENTLENESS. AS AN ARTIST, I CREATE THE SAME WAY; SOFTLY, THOUGHTFULLY, AND WITH INTENTION. EACH SESSION THAT I CURATE FOR A FAMILY IS DONE WITH CARE. I PHOTOGRAPH MOTHER'S THE WAY THAT I ONCE NEEDED TO BE SEEN. I ENSURE THAT MOTHER'S AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE GUIDED AND HONORED WHEN THEY ARE IN FRONT OF ME.
EACH TIME A MOTHER SELECTS ME TO CREATE A STORY WITH THEIR IMAGES I AM HONORED. IT BRINGS ME SO MUCH JOY TO HELP OTHERS CREATE MOMENTS THAT ARE TIMELESS.
